Austrian composer, Alban Berg, his” The Lyrical Suite "composed in1926is astring quartet using12sequence as the main creation techniques. Berg did notstrictly abide by his master Schoenberg’s creative principle of twelve-tone sequence,he boldly applied atonality and potential atonality into the twelve-tone sequencecreation,which makes the "lyrical suite" full of contemporary sense as well as atrace of traditional music in the19th century."Lyric suite" is also a composer’ love epic, he blended his sweet and pain loveexperiences with his lover Hanna Fuxi into in this work, in order to commemoratethe essence of this relationship.This thesis makes an ontological detailed analysis from the following aspects::1, The point view of sequence creation techniques2, The perspective of the potential tonality3, The motives in musicThe analysis methods used by the writer mainly include: twelve-tone sequencecreation techniques, traditional harmonic analysis method, Alan ford step set theoryanalysis, and so on.This article makes detailed analysis,induction and summary of creationcharacteristics in" The Lyric Suite" from the above three aspects. To understandBerg’s application of three different types of elements,twelve-tone sequence, freeatonality and potential tonality into creation.
