This paper has studied 1949 until 1965 through the angle of historiography taking the historical picture and document at that time as basis, the development of the Chinese portrait of oil painting train of thought. On this foundation, have discussed in that specific time, political factor and the cultural background of the Chinese portrait development of oil painting, hope that reach correct historical conclusion.This paper divides 3 parts totally.The first minute, researcher makes statistics mainly according to party in the policy document at that time and data, the recollections of involved party article, systems analysis the country establishment under construction of the party of initial stage for the route of literature and art. This has also directly caused skill law, pattern and the content of the oil painting at that time. Those who are same have also decided the appearance of the portrait of oil painting. In same time, Soviet fine arts also begin to influence the development of oil painting under political direction.Second part at the beginning of, when having gone through to found country after upheaval, oil painting is in the policy of literature and art under guidance develop steadily. It is the continuity of Soviet influence and YanAn pattern mainly. Soviet expert come to China, style student studying abroad goes to Soviet Union to become important campaign. The appearance nature of the portrait of oil painting gets the influence of their role. The nationalization of oil painting also because of political reason become a kind of style. Overall, is developed forward.3th is partial, under the influence of great leap forward, oil painting again arises style fluctuation, the style of New Year pictures had been again mentioned , and the influence of Soviet Union is having not little influence soon afterwards still in few years , has even arisen the peak of a historical drawing. But along with Cultural Revolution spring up , this kind of normal artistic development had been suspended , achievement the Cultural Revolution that encloses relatively fine arts.
