Cao Yu And Aesthetic Modernity,

Through analyzing the Cao Yu's early dramas, this dissertation tries to study aesthetic modernity of Cao Yu's inditement, and explores the characters of aesthetic modernity in modern China on the base of analyzing the characters of aesthetic modernity in the Cao Yu's early dramas. It consists of four parts:The first part introduces a few basic issues of modernity and aesthetic modernity theoretically, which provide academic supports for analyzing the characters of aesthetic modernity in Cao Yu's early dramas in the following text.In the second part, the author analyzes Cao Yu's early dramas'texts, and points out that in his early dramas, Cao Yu cares the problem of being, presents the conflict between culture and individual, reflects the traditions, longing uncivilized vitality, and takes on the conflict between ideal and real life.In the third part, on the basic of text analyzing, combining the correlative theory of modernity, the author points out that the aesthetic modernity reflected from Cao Yu's early dramas is exclusive and indistinct. It is exclusive because the consciousness of enlightening modernity and save-the-nation-from-extinction is unconspicuous; it is indistinct because Cao Yu's cognition about the relationship between enlightening modernity and aesthetic modernity is unclear, even Cao Yu's pursuing the aesthetic modernity is subconscious.The fourth part, as a subjoinder, look at the encounter of aesthetic modernity in modern China.
