| Yanshou was an eminant Chan master of Fayan branch at the end of Five Dynasties and early Song Dynasty. He called the eminant monks of the schools of Tiantai, Huayan, Faxiang and so on together. They discussed the Buddhism. On the basis, Yanshou wrote the works Record of the Mirror of Orthodoxy. In the works, Yanshou put forward the proposition of being single minded, reflecting myriad dharmas like a mirror. He insisted that the mind was the basis of all the Buddhist schools, and all the schools should unite as one. Yanshou's thought complied with the situation of that age.Yanshou carried out his theory in practice, insisting that his advocation of the consistence of Chan and Pure Land. This is Buddha's deeds of Mahayana Buddhism. Yanshou's advocation of Buddha's deeds is not only the introspection to the traditional Buddhism,but also the inherent demand of the Buddhism development at that time. The modern Buddhism should focus on both the theory and practice, especially the practice."Prohibit all the evil and put the good into practice."The above theory is not only good for the construction of the social ethics, but also useful in building the homonious society. |
