The German question is passes through the entire cold war history. After the Second World War, Germany splits and joins two big camps separately, but Federal Republic of Germany never gives up the desire of national unification. German unification question becomes the focus of America-Germany relation. The manner every American administration deals with the question has manifested in a very great degree the development and change of American cold war strategy. Foreign Relation of the United States of the Johnson Administration deciphers one after another.This has provided massive raw materials for the study of the foreign policy of Lyndon Johnson. Therefore this article try hard to fully used the document and analyze main characteristic of the Johnson Administration's foreign policy to Federal Republic of Germany ,namely to guide Federal Republic of Germany's strength to the channel of "limitedly relaxes" of America and Soviet .By analyzing the policy ,we can have perspectives of the cold war situation in Johnson Administration time.After the Second World War , the ideology confrontation and the practical interest competition caused America and Soviet step into the confrontation quickly and caused Germany's dividing directly. After the establishement of Federal Republic of Germany , the Truman Administration has experienced the hesitation, and finally determined to rearming West Germany. The Eisenhower government take advantage of the unification desire of West Germany to resist Soviet, but in the later period of the administration , American policy changed. The Kennedy administration acknowledged Germany splits in fact, while paying more attention to Federal Republic of Germany's economic aid. These three adminstrations has left behind main inheritance, such as the join of Federal Republic to the west camp and utilize Federal Republic of Germany's economical strength .At the same time, after the end of the 50's, the American government already acknowledged Germany split actually, which is also inherited by the Johnson Administration.In the mid and later parts of 1960s, because the international society atmosphere became more complex and US was also occupied by the Vietnam War , Johnson Administration is more careful in dealing with America-Germany relations. Fearing the nuclear war ,Johnson want to avoid conflict with Soviet Union. So Johnson Administration did not support the unification...
