Though the secularization of monks is not the pecularity of Yuan Danasty , it is the most prominent. It is a major signal of Buddhishm which had high degree especially the betan Buddhism. The monks (especially Xiseng)spoiled by the ruler did anything they wanted and they could also do anything the laymen could do. In politics, they participated in the administration and made themselves become officers or recommended others; They did Buddhist ceremony praying for good fortune for the ruler, begging the ruler to release the prisoners which badly intervened the trials and even set rebellion for subverting the rule of Yuan Danasty. In economy, they made money through doing Buddhist ceremony, making laymen become monks and even digging tombs and so on; They also did business and contested field. In social life, it appeared to the monks who drank and had wives. The monks who drank were very prevalent in Yuan Danasty at every where, every state and every spot. They drank unbridledly without the inculpation of the ruler and the absent treatment of the common people. The monks who had wives were also prevailing all over the kingdom. Though it was not open and aboveboard, they need not hide.The prevalence of the secularization of the monks were determined by many factors. The monks had high degree and were redundant which brought them into secularization of politics and economy. It made the monks rich which was an important reason of the secularization of social life. The ruler being fond of drinking and the close communication between the monks and the literator were the two other major reasons of the monks who drank. The monks did not leave their homes and had close relationship with the laymen . The person of the time chased money. These were the reasons why the monks had wives.There were many reflections of the persons of the time for the monks secularization. In politics and ecomony, they had much strong reaction for doing Buddhist ceremony. But the ruler did not take any material measure. They took many measures to the monks' crime and the monks who were in business. For the monks who drank, the persons of the time had not any censure.The ruler also had not do any thing. For the monks who had wives, though the persons of the time had some censure and the ruler had taken some measures, much of them were only a form.The secularization of the monks refected many problems of Yuan Danasty. It could show the basic look of it.
