| With the development of urbanization and social economy in our country, several major religions including Tibetan Buddhism are facing secular challenges in the inheritance and propagation. The monks are the inheritance of Tibetan Buddhist teaching and the dominant of religious activities and practice. Nowadays,their activities are becoming more and more secular. In die meantime, this change represents that the significance of religious is transforming from collective to individual As the mam part of Tibetan Buddhism in the future, the young monks are much affected by the seculars in modern society during develop themselves in the rapid development of social economy reform and open environment. So the study on the young monks of Tibetan Buddhism has important meaning to the analysis of the secularization of Tibetan Buddhism.The thesis takes the young monks of Langmu Temple in Gansu province as the example and uses theory of ethnology, anthropology, and sociology of religion and methods of participant observation, personal Interviews and literature research. It intends to discuss the young monks-social life in Langmu Temple, make an analysis of the characteristics and the role in Tibetan Buddhism’s secularization, then analyze the effect of secular changes in all aspects of life for young monk. The thesis mainly includes five parrs. Chapter1is introduction of the temple and the process of participatory observation. Chapter2mainly presents an overview of relevant theory of secularization, and uses three dimensional secularization theory as the theoretical basis for the study of Buddhist monks in Tibetan, finally make a analysis on the current situation of the secularization of Tibet Buddhism and Langmu Temple. Chapter3tries to analyze and describe the living situation of young monks in Langmu Temple from two aspects:life style and learning experience, then presents tin-characteristics of young monks’ behavior. Chapter4mainly describes the roles of monks in Tibetan Buddhism secularization and shows the positive and negative Influence of the secularization of Tibetan Buddhism to the monks. Chapter5is the conclusion. According to the research, it can be found the behavior of young monks living in the modern society is inevitably influenced by secular. Because of different lifestyle and learning experience, the young monks wander between the scared and the secular, Collective and individual. This study concluded that the young Tibetan Buddhist monk living is under the influence of Tibetan Buddhism’secular in the temple and individual both,Promoting young monk’s life changes through different living environment and educational experience. |
