History: Today Quiz

From 1986 till now, the New Historicism novel in contemporary Chinese literature has passed through 20 years. And how to classify it is a problem being discussed for so long a time, because this lasting ideological trend has met various trouble. The article ponders on this problem and give a conclusion. The author brings up an idea that there are four thread of thought in Chinese New Historicism novel producing. Hero, Yiguansixue, Jingkeciqinwang and Jueshi are representatives of these four categories, and they all obtain materials from a historical story: Jingkeciqin.The first part of the article gives the explanation of the four texts. The New Historicism novel producing go around an orbit all the time: to change the history which is single and capital into many small his-stories. From different visual angles, four writers choose different structures to arrange stories, because they have diverse ideology and history notions.The second part gives the reason to these phenomena from macroscopic point of view. "Give me the truth" is the first category. Writers who belong to this category give us the "true history" which has not been refined and selected by rank standpoint. But no one can get rid of ideology, moreover, language and human nature can not be relied on. So it is difficult to find the real truth. Consequently, after the first category, there are two collateral categories: "Give me the producing power " and "Give me the living state off hand". However, the former gradually fall into a state that making copies all the time, especially in producing ideas and styles. Besides, the later sets up two obstacles for itself which cannot be surpassed. When the Chinese New Historicism novel producing go downhill bit by bit, Hero starts another category: "Give me the future". In the Hero, history is not only the passed story, but also a symbolization of human future. So, Ciqin is not only a story take place in China, it is also a parable belong to the whole world. For this reason, maybe Hero is a new start point for critics' research on the New Historicism novel in contemporary Chinese literature.
