Mental health education for students is widely emphasized through whole society now days, it had made very important achievements on the study and practice at this issue for college and high school students, but there are plenty of problems still remain, especially for the primary school students. Actually, the study on mental health education for kl2 grades is only at its beginning. How to decrease the students' serious level and reach the aim to promote their mental health level are the main point of mental health education, and also the urgent affair which is needed to face and be solved.This study is focused on promote kl2 grades students' mental health level, clear up their growing barriers.The author analyzed the present situation, including the pressure, existent problems and major methods of mental health education for primary school students. Then he summarized all kinds of group therapy theories, and put forward a new concept which called "Mental Health Class in Group Therapy Teaching Model" according to these theories, relative skills and his own working experiences. After that, he gave some comparisons in detail between group therapy, other curriculum with this model, expatiated what's the relationship between teacher and kids and what's the information communication among the class, listed every steps and handling skills of each step, gave principles and approaches on designing a successful class in this model, presented some skills on how to put this model in practice and how to assess a class in this model, and also described some relative matters. At last the author designed an experiment on this model and brought it into effect with the fourth graders between two schools in Kunming City.The experiment involved in students' cognition, emotion, volition, worthiness notion, behavior, living and so on, the major aim is to explore an efficient, easy handling mental health model in improve students' mental health level.There are four conclusions here via the experiment.1. The mental health class in group therapy teaching model effectively lowered the anxiety tendency of the experimental group. It means that the model is effective in improving the mental health level of primary school students.2. On each dimensionality of the PSMH(Primary and Secondary student Mental Health) test, except the remorse tendency, the scores of the experimental group are much lower than the contrast group after the mental health class in group therapy teaching model experiment.3. The mental health class in group therapy teaching model can significantly lower students' learning anxiety and body symptom tendency.4. The rising range of the score on remorse tendency of the experimental group is slower than the contrast group, though the scores of both groups going up.The experiment results show that the mental health class in group therapy teaching model can effectively increase the primary school students' mental health level, on the contrary, it can decrease their anxious level. This model is a useful method in primary school students' mental health education, which is worth to have a trial and expansion.
