Directed by Historical Materialism and the monistic-determinism of productive ability , the thesis studies the early thoughts of Anthoney Giddens which include his thoughts on class, theory of structuration, and social transition. The thesis attemps to remark his advantages and disadvantages on the bases of elucidating Giddens' frame of theory and the nature of his thoughts. The thesis consists of five chapters. The chapter I is the introduction. It includes the life of Giddens, his experience of research, contemporary scholars studies about bis thoughts and the significance of studying Giddens' early thoughts in theory and reality. The chapter II elaborates three parts of class theory. They are the origins of class structuration, implications of it, and its being used hi analyzing the class situation of advanced societies, mainly in capitalist societies. The author gives different ideas about these issues, insists that the division of labor is the basis of dividing class and points out his gains and losses in theory. In the chapter IE, I point out that Giddens sublimates his structuration of classrelations, constructing the famous theory-the system of theory of structuration ,which attempts to overcome the confrontation of agents and structures, the agency of subjects and the limitation of objects, but he is trapped in the muddle of pluralistic-eclecticism.The chapter IV discusses Giddens' attempts to construct general models of social transition and elaborates the strengths of shaping modern societies. Remarks are given to his attempts. On the other hand, it elaborates the models of social development in "the three kind of social stages". We insist that the history is "history of the growth of productivity "?"history of working "and "history of the development of individual capability".The last chapter is the conclusion. I summarize the discussion about the issues of Giddens' early thoughts, and confess the shortcomings of the dissertation and point out the possible direction of further researching.
