Bai Pu, one of the ''four authorities of Qu in Yuan Dynasty", is considered to be the representative of the literary school of Yuan drama. He is accomplished in filling in words to fit a given tune, and his "Tian Lai Collections " is handed down to posterity. It is no wonder that he is adept in both popular and elegant literary styles. This essay employed a comparative method to do a research on Bai Pu and his collections as a whole.'The first chapter, from the perspective of ihe style, study comparatively from the subject matters to artistic manners of Bai Pu's Ci and Qu. Combined with his own personal subjective and objective factors, this chapter prodding into the mutual affection and penetration between Bai pu 's Ci and Qu. Further more, the chapter study the interactions of Ci and Qu which were common literary phenomena in the period of Jin and Yuan Dynasty. And how the phenomena influence the evolvement and development of the literary style. The second chapter, broadening the research spectrum, is concerned with Yuan Haowen, a great master in literature, who was contemporary with Bai Pu. From Ci and Qu, the two different aspects, this chapter detailed analyzed the relationship between the two people during Bai Pu's discipleship. and discussed Bai Pu's development of Yuan Haowen's style of writing. Finally make a conclusion that Yuan and Bai, the two great literary masters play an important role in shaping and developing the Northern Literary World in the period of Jin and Yuan Dynasty. Based on the former two chapters, the third one makes a further research on the Southern Literary World which coexists with the Northern one. This chapter emphasized on the comparative study between Bai Pu and Zhang Yan who is the representative of the Southern literary World, as to explore the difference in themes and styles between the Northern and the Southern. And we can see the trend of communication and amalgamation of the two worlds from the style transformation and multiple sectors coexistence of Bai Pu and Zhang Yan. It is such communication and amalgamation that indicate the arrival of the new development of Ci in Yuan Dynasty.
