Jesuits'coming to China in late Ming Dynasty opened a great exchange movement between the Chinese and westem culture.Another big issue during that period of Ming Dynasty was the partisan factions.Therefore, in the research on late Ming Dynasty and westem culture exchange both in China and abroad,how the literati and officials ,especially those who belonged to"Donglin"or"Yandang",reacted to the Jesuits is a conspicuous problem.For a long time,the academic scholars generally believe that most literati and officials in"Donglin"treated the Jesuits in a friendly way and supported what the Jesuits did while the literati and officials in Donglin'S opposing parties treated the Jesuits in a hostile way and were Jesuits'main opponents. This thesis has the literati and officials in late Ming Dynasty classified,arranged in orde~counted and analyzed according to their reactions to the Jesuits.The focus iS whether the literati and officials'reactions to the Jesuits have a direct bearing on the political parties they belonged to.According to the statistics and analysis,this thesis concludes that most literati and officials treated the Jesuits in a friendly way,no matter which political party they belonged to, such as"Donglin","Yandang","Zhedang",Fushe,the neutral party and SO on.The literati and officials'reactions to the Jesuits have no direct bearing on their individual political party....
