It is traditional opinion that yuanyou, a rather peculiar poem in the Songs of the South, is one of the great poems of Qu Yuan and an important poem in the study of Qu Quan' idea and in the evaluation of the art achievement of Qu Yuan's verses Fu. However, the present opinion that it is not the poem by Qu Yuan raises a question to the readings of the Songs of the South by scholars thousand years since. The judgement of the article's author comes from the thorough study of the text itself; and there is no avoidance to any scholars.The text consists of three chapters.Chapter One is the comment on the research situation of the poet of Yuanyou.It is a impersonal phenomenon that QuYuan has integrate tightly with the poet of Yuanyou,and there is a far-reaching influence in the history of literature.The most important thing for us now is to try our best to investigate the poet of Yuanyou itself.Chapter Two analyses the structure and the content of the poet of Yuanyou. There is two clues in the poet.One is the obvious clue (the travel course),and the other is the underlying one (the sentiment development). The emphasis of the poet is the depiction of the travel.The poet of Yuanyou become the magnum opus in the Songs of South for this.Chapter Three explore the meaning and the influence of the Yuanyou pattern by comparing it with Lisao pattern.They both have the significant meaning for the character building of Chinese literators.
