Sung Dynasty is the most prosperous period of geomantic omen in history, which is the base of the theories, categories and schools of the later ages.The purpose of the article is to make an elementary description about the geomantic omen of the Sung Dynasty. The main content of this article contain four parts, which are folk geomantic omen, the literati and officialdom's attitudes and arguments about the geomantic omen, the royal geomantic omen and the revision and writing of the geomantic omen books.The traditional study of the geomantic omen usually results in dualism: if it is scientific or not and if it comes true or not. This article tries to make a psychological and social explanation of the Sung Dynasty's geomantic omen using theories of sociology and anthropology. Besides this, I make an approach to the inner evolution and the external adaptation of the geomantic omen so that we can have a general idea of the Sung Dynasty's geomantic omen influence on the later ages.
