Shang City is an important discovery in recent Xia and Shang archeological research, which provides new data to the research of Shang Capitals and chronological order of Shang culture. Based on the earlier archeological exploration and dig in HuaYuan Zhuang site and recent excavations in HuanBei Shang City, this dissertation discussed such aspects about the city as the course of discovery cultural contents stratigraply and character etc.Nowadays, in academic society, there are two kinds of theories about the city's character: Xiang inhabited by HeDanJia and Yin resided in by PangGeng To solve this problem, chronological analysis is the best way that we can rely on, Since the historical documents about it are very vague and no writing is uncovered. On historical records Shang Dynasty had moved its capital for five times, namely Ao xiang Xing Yan and Yin, and the relative remains of them should keep the same chronological order. So this article try to fix the precise place of HuanBei Shang culture in the whole Shang cultural chronology: The culture itself can be divided into two continuous phases: The former phase is laterthan the BaiJiaZhang Period of ZhengZhou Shang culture and there is a gap between them; The latter phase is earlier than the first period of YinXu DaSikong Chun site and they are successive. Meanwhile HuanBei Shang culture has close contacts with the culture of middle Shang culture in south of HeBei Province.The XiaoShuangQiao Site of BaiJiaZhuang Period and the first period of DaSikongChun site are respectively believed to be the Ao resided in by ZhongDing and Yin inhabited by WuDing So the above chronological investigation manifests that HuanBei Shang city is more likely to be the Yin dwelt in by PanGang. The author of this article approve of the idea that the HuanBei Shang City is the capital of PanGeng Xiaoxin and xiaoyi and think that the two phases of the culture in the HuaYuanZhuang site are relative to the three emperors.
