From Childhood, The Valley Echo

In children's literature, the adult image is a very few subject that had been paid attention to, and the existing discussions, far from abundant, is also centralized mainly in children's novels. Fairy tale is the style that highlights the special quality of children's literature and also the type of writing that possesses a primitive poetic fascination in entire literary system. So the adult images that assemble in fairy tales has unique artistic glamour, and can communicate the rich connotations of the aspect such as education, culture and philosophy. Taking the adult image of fairy tales as basic subject, this dissertation summarizes their cultural identity and classified characteristics as well as the developing theme and modern value orientations in fairy tales through the general survey of the image evolution and the case study of modern fairy tales. The conclusion is that,adult images in fairy tales bridges the gap between the living spirits of children and adults with its special character implications. Especially after 20th century, the concern for childhood life presented in the contemporary fairy tales is more closely related to the reality. With adult images abundant in consciousness of childhood observation ,the writers express their profoundcreative motivation and spiritual ideal---childhood is theparadise for both adults and children, and fairy tales will guard the golden time of childhood by its permanent glamour.
