Double-syllable homonyms of Modern Chinese are one kind of lexicon system. Doing research on it is benefit to improvement of dictionary. Defining it should be appropriate. This dissertation includes four parts. Part one is about homonyms' definition, and through comparing with polysemant make this definition more clearly. Part two is about homonyms' classification, and point out it has different stratification. Part three researches reasons of being it, and point out appearance of it is inevitable. Part four is about homonyms and compilation of dictionary. At last, it illustrate that double syllable homonyms should be divided into different entries in a dictionary of Modem Chinese, and when you arrange homonyms in a dictionary, you must understand its limits from a rational angle, look on homonyms' classification as basis of arrangement of entries .At the same time, you must depend on diachronie principal. Homonyms shouldn't be arranged without distinguishing .In the end of the dissertation, there is an appendix about double syllable homonyms of Modem Chinese.
