Having been buried out over three hundred years, Xing Shi Yan which can be called as an exotic flower in this big family is a collection of stories in Ming Dynasty. Its new exposure to the public has solved lots of questions left over by previous researchers, filled in the gaps of research history in ancient vernacular fiction, and provided research valuable materials such as social history and customs in the late of that period. All of these make it rated as "Qing Ming Shang He Tu" (which is a masterpiece drawing). Besides, it, as a literature works, is imbued with such strong reality, profundity of ironic disclosure and width of attending to each and every aspect that it can be regarded as the mirror of social darkness in the late of Ming Dynasty. As its literature value is shining brilliantly, its artistic value can not be neglected. It announces a new stage from printed version to written one by focusing on the scholarization of printed version through narration of its own style and its diction of "selecting the elegant from the popular".
