Image Of Chinese Opera Music

Opera, the synthetic arts, uses music as its main expressive method , which is essentially different from other art forms. The function of the music in the opera is to emerge character, sharp dramatic conflicts, expressing the feeling and bring the play to its climax ect. The ultimate mission, that is to create operatic vocal images, is finally completed in the ways of various music methods and forms. The paper consists of fiveparts:introduction; the function of voice in creating musical forms; the function of instrumental music; singer抯 recreation and musical image; conclusion. Several representative Chinese operas was used to discuss the problems about the primary creation and recreation, and the creation of opera musical images. In opera, music is the major way to create characters and vocal music is the key to it. The theme, the essence of the characters?vocal music, not only provide a basic frame for the characters personality and its development, but also set up the foundation of its further development. The vocal music achieve the full creation of the musical image by the characters in various stages are constantly disclosed and, especially, their emotions in dramatic conflicts are vividly described. In addition, the function of the instrumental music, which is an indivisible part in an opera, should not be ignored. From the angle of recreation, being visible figures in the stage, the actors play a particular part in the play. Their artistic attainments, vocal expression, singing and performing styles often endow new to the characters they are playing. In this paper, three operas, such as 揥hite-hair Girl?揝ister Jiang?and 揟he Land? are put forward as the examples and used as the clue. By aiming at the elder generation抯 views, offering hers owns and pointing out both advantages and disadvantages in each of the work, the author try to illustrate how the youth inherited and develop the traditional theory so as to show the developing process of the Chinese opera music.
