Based on the historic facts,this dissertation explores the economy of the towns and villages of Shaanxi province.It offers some valuable historic experiences for the present development of the towns and villages in Western China. This dissertation includes three parts: The first part:the reasons and representations of economic prosperity of Shaanxi towns and villages.the reasons are the development of Shaanxi agriculture production and the prosperity of market economy.The representations are the large number of towns and villages,the big scale,the wide scope,the changing of commodity varieties,the appearance of professional markets and the formation of regional market network structure. The second part:The economic characteristics and representation of Shaanxi towns and villages are:①the rating,the scale and the formation structure of the development of towns and villages.②the number of towns and villages doubled from 1650-1800.③the commodity structure of towns and villages became more diversified.④The regional structure:There were more towns and villages in Guan Zhong area than those in South and North of Shaanxi. The third part:some proposals are put forward for the development of Shaanxi towns and villages.
