| This paper take the ancient towns and villages along the coastland and inland of Liangjiang County, and Aojiang River as the study objects. Liangjiang, which backs on mountains and faces to ocean, has a notable characteristics of marine culture. Since ancient times, Liangjiang is both the inportant coastal defensive county of Fuzhou city, and the important trade channel for ancient traders from Fujian and Taiwan go northward to Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shangdong, Tianjin, ctc.. Lianjiang is one of the origin of the Revolution of1911and the agrarian Revolution, also is one of the important settlements of the She nationality, the ancestral home of the Matsu Island, and where the Temple of Mazu Goddess and South China Ocean God loacated. Lianjiang so far still preserve a relatively large number of ancient towns and villages which is rich of cultural connotations and of great local characteristic historical remains. This paper use multi-disciplinary research methods and theories of history, archeology, religion, tourism and others, to make a systematic review and field observation on the landscape of both natural and cultural, including the geographical and ecological environment, folk culture, ancient buildings, historical sites, relics related to Taiwan. This paper will investigate their conservation status, and reveal their value and significance, in order to providing foundation for the cultural industries and tourist resorts under construction in the Economic Zone on the Western Coast of the Taiwan Straits, on how to protect and exploit these precious resources. |
