Miaodigou(MDG) period,also the midterm of Yangshao culture ,is the most prosperous phase of Yangshao culture, and the cultural elements of those have a vaster range during this period.This article gives a brief introduction about the discovery and research of Yangshao culture remains. According to the discoveries and concerning the environmental discrepancies of each region, MDG period of Yangshao culture remains can be divided into seven districts that would be studied by states respectively. Seven districts are Jinnan, Yuxi, Eastern Guanzhong, Western Guanzhong, Up-stream of Weishui River, Up-stream of Jingshui River and Jinzhong. Based on the research, MDG period of Yangshao culture remains has three phases.In accordance with the distinctions of each district, MDG period of Yangshao culture remains includes six area types, JinnanYuxi (Miaodigou type), Eastern Guanzhong (Quanhu type), Western Guanzhong, Up-stream of Weishui River, Up-stream of Jingshui River and Jinzhong.On the basis of division of area types, this article probes into the source of the area types, especially MDG type. As far as the available reference is concerned, this article prefers this viewpoint that MDG type is mainly from Zaoyuan H1 and Dongguan remains of JinnanYuxi area that belong to the early stage of Yangshao culture, but is influenced by Banpo type of Weishui River during the evolution.
