Example sentence is important in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. An example with high quality must be typical in showing the meaning and uses of a certain language focus. Typicality principle is the first in example writing. But present research on examples of teaching materials is weak. The intensions of the principle as well as the way to achieve it are still blank.In this study, the writer investigated the examples'quality of several initial-middle level materials. According to the views of language learners and some research findings, the writer gave the new identity of typicality principle as well as the way to achieve it in example writing, and then gave some advices on it.The writer propounded that an example stentance must be able to hignlight the expressing meanings and the form characteristics of the foucs efficiently. The expressing meanings of the foucs conclude the written meaning and meanings produced in communications, including the communication occasions, the tone and the psychology of the speakers. The form characteristics of the foucs conclude the situation of the fouces in a sentence, the component parts it acted in the sentence and the expanded uses.
