Exercise is an indispensable part of textbook by which student could self-check and it is a method for teachers to know whether the students grasp the knowledge comprehensively. As an important part of textbook, it helps students to transfer language knowledge into language skills, and is also the important means for evaluation in the basis of sentence pattern and new vocabulary. Through various types of exercises, it can not only to help us to know the knowledge management status of students, but also can let teachers to do self-test on their teaching quality. Spoken language teaching is a kind of output teaching type, so exercise is particularly important in spoken mandarin teaching. Exercise is a key step of consolidation and knowledge activation, it is the bridge to connect knowledge and knowledge application and it is a method to let the textbook knowledge turns to communication ability. Exercise is so important for the textbook of the elementary Chinese spoken language; therefore, compiling textbook plays a vital role to realize the teaching goal. Researches on the existing mandarin language teaching can help the compilation for the new textbook and the modification of the original revision.The current elementary Chinese spoken language textbook exercise always pursue communicative ability, but there is no enough investigation and analysis specifically on whether these exercise could cultivate the communicative ability and whether it can effectively stimulate students to speak out. To understand the exercise of the Foreign Students-oriented Chinese Text, to analyze the advantages and disadvantages has theoretical significance and strong practical reference value for future textbooks compilation. Therefore, this paper selected three elementary spoken Chinese textbook, the "Elementary Spoken Chinese", "Fa Zhan Han Yu-Elementary Spoken Chinese (in)" and" Chinese:Communicating in Culture "as the research object. Through the three aspects of quantization, topic quantity and topic type of these three textbooks to analyze its rule, with the three learning theories to learn about these rules. Combining the teaching exercise, through the test evaluation, give some suggestions on the amendment and compilation of the elementary Chinese spoken language textbook exercise.This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces the research object and research methods. Otherwise, identify the standards of these three selected textbooks. And introduce their compiling principles, background and utilization specifically. Secondly introduce that the three textbooks' exercise is on the basis of the completion of one semester's course. Finally, to make this study more scientific, classify the exercise according to the existing classification of the spoken exercise.The second chapter investigates these three textbooks in four aspects of exercise compilation respectively. Raise up some view points on the data analysis of the four aspects on the basis of investigation. First is about the exercise intensity. We think it should not only pay attention on the exercise quantity, but also control the exercise quality according to the teaching content. Secondly, analyze about the exercise density problems from the topic quantity density and content density. We found that in these three textbooks the topic quantity density is mainly proportional to the content density. Thirdly, about the exercise layout, it is easy to see that these three textbooks have their own mode in exercise arrangement, not in random arrangement. But judging from single class, CCC textbooks stepped-weir is not obvious, while the other two textbooks are very good. Finally is the question type of exercise. We think the compilation of textbook questions must be targeted to the exercise content and the exercise object.The third chapter discusses the application of the three learning theory in the textbook of foreign language Chinese-oriented. Give suggestions on the compilation based on the advantages from various theories. Behaviorism theory emphasized positive significance in language learning. We think that we should not only pay attention to the exercise quantity, but should also consider the exercise quality. Cognitive study theory emphasizes people's own language processing, so exercise the language condition based on the adult learners' thinking habit is fully considered. Since expression episodic memory plays a leading role in the adult's language memories, especially to the language beginners, the proportion of exercise types is undoubtedly focused on mechanical exercises. Constructivist learning theory emphasizes circumstances, cooperation, conversation and significance. Therefore besides individual structure it also concerns the external environment. It was eye-opened for spoken Chinese learning. Therefore, in the design of exercise we should pay attention to the construction of the circumstances and significance.Summing up in Chapter four to. Give suggestions on the exercise design of the elementary Chinese spoken language textbooks. And point out my research achievements and deficiency.
