This essay takes the 3rd grade Thai students who study in Southwest University as research object. It is from two aspects of the means of cohesion including Grammar and vocabulary to analyze the situation of the use of cohesion in the compositions of the Thai students.According to the research results on discourse's cohesion and coherence of M.A.K. Halliday and Mr. Hu Zhuanglin, this paper summarizes the uses of the means of cohesion that is accorded with Thai students, which are reference, substitution, ellipsis, conjunction and lexical cohesion. And then using the former theory to analyze and investigate the 56 compositions of Thai students'Chinese discourse which also can be called Intermediary language discourse, summarizing the errors of using the means of discourse's cohesion and coherence in Thai students'intermediary language discourses which are missing, misusing and the other situation. Within the three types, former two are taken a big percentage than the other one. Based in the types of errors inducts the characteristics of the errors, and also finding the reasons of how those errors come from. The reasons can be put in three ways: the avoidance strategy; the negative transfer of mother tone and the particularity of Chinese.Based on the types and reasons of the errors existing in the Thai students'intermediary language discourses, this paper pertinently puts forward to improve the situation from three aspects:the theory construction; the compilation of textbooks and the teacher's ability. First, we should combined with the actual situation of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and do more research about the errors of many countries' learners using situation on means of cohesion, in order to pertinently solve problems instead of introduce new theories which may lead to high level of theory and low in practical teaching. Second, it can't be asked to editor a totally new writing textbook which can show every aspect of the discourse's cohesion and coherence, but we can add some contexts about the discourse's cohesion and coherence in the current writing textbooks which are all lack of, suck as the choosing of example compositions, introducing the standards of the discourse's cohesion and coherence in a very intensive way, or design various practices after classes and so on. Third, mainly begin from the high attention of the discourse's cohesion and coherence, demanding the teachers' ability on this subject and in the mean time, encouraging students'to use the means of discourse's cohesion and coherence in their writing process, and using various means of teaching methods to improve the enthusiasm of students, and strengthening the comparative study in the means of discourse's cohesion and coherence between Chinese and Thai, also formatting the habit of correcting and eliminating the errors in a high intensive way.
