Fengxiaogang Movie Humor Language Study

Feng Xiaogang, one of the leading contemporary Chinese film directors, with unique audio-visual language arts, has always been passionately adored by audience. In recent years, Feng Xiaogang's films as the pioneer of "New Year's film" in the mainland have become widespread talks. His simple and fresh film languages build the reputation "Feng's Humor", which has become a cultural symbol and unique memory in people's minds forever. In "New year's film", Feng made unique humor with sensitive and wistful grasp of language, abnormal thinking and narrative and flexible use of words and creativity of sentences. These humorous languages and humorous effects rapidly became popular symbols of mass culture, and manifested language spirituality and fascination. It not only realized the Chinese film language innovation and breakthrough, but also infused new elements and vitality into extensive and profound Chinese Language Arts.This paper selected classic movie dialogues from eight New Year's films of Feng as a research corpus, summarizes and induces on the basis of previous studies results, and from the linguistic point of view study Feng Xiaogang's film humorous language in details. The thesis comprises three parts. Firstly, summarize from a macro point of view comprehensively Feng Xiaogang's New Year's films' humorous characteristics, including civilized, strange, ironic, and incompatibility, to accomplish grasp humorous language effect in the whole. Secondly, from the perspective of rhetoric, comprehensively analyze humorous languages of Feng's films with phonetics, vocabulary, grammar and figure of speech in order to make people understand the reason why Feng's humorous language could be classic and popular symbols and to suggest unique artistc fascination of "Feng's humor". Finally, from the pragmatic point of view, using cooperation principles, presupposition and relevance theory to explore the formation mechanism of Feng's humorous language to reveal the real reason why their language can produce humorous effects.As time goes by, Feng Xiaogang will continue to introduce novel New Year's film whose humorous language will appear in different forms, so continuous attention and research in many areas are still required. Through systematic study of language and discourse, not only a new perspective for the audience to understand the humor can be offered, but also promote Chinese rhetoric, pragmatics theories, and humor language innovation and development. What's more, it can play a guiding role in the specific language practice.
