Sui Dynasty Music And Literature Study

In the river of historic progress, though Sui dynasty had only experienced two monarchs, it played an important role of our culture and art development in only thirty-nine years. Especially on the promoting of the prosperity of literature and music.This thesis can be divided into six parts which makes whole interpretation of Music Literature in Sui dynasty.The introduction part summarizes the predecessors' research of music literature in Sui dynasty.Chapter one is mainly about the background of music culture in Sui dynasty and discusses it from two parts, of which one is inheritance of music and the other is official Yue Fu in Sui dynasty. Because Sui dynasty was based on the century division of Southern and Northern Dynasties, its music had also embodied the north-south fusion, and the harmony of Qing Yue and Hu Yue. Moreover, its official Yue Fu had great influence on the future generations. Therefore, in this chapter, we'll mainly discuss the unification of Qing Yue and Hu Yue, and we'll also discuss that the emperor Sui Yangdi abolished the Qingshang Department.Chapter two mainly discusses the Yi Shi Yue Ge of Sui dynasty. And the primary subject will be the usage of Jiao Miao Ge Ci. Through this subject, this thesis discusses the process of sacrifice(Ji Si). And we'll also discuss the Gao Zu Miao Ge, which created by emperor Sui Yangdi.The subject of chapter three is music literature of literati. It's mainly about the Yue Fu poetry written by the literatis of Sui dynasty. Its theme ranges from army life, love, dinner cruise to swordsman and other subjects which consist of two parts:immortal life and natural object.Chapter four analysis the ballad of Sui dynasty. In this chapter, we'll mainly analysis the ballad in Sui dynasty. Folk ballad is the main part of Sui ballad. The folk ballad is used for reflecting normal life and inside of common people. Therefore, this chapter will analysis the folk ballad from its provenance.The last part is summary. In this chapter, except the summary, there is also contains the influence after Sui dynasty. Especially for Tang dynasty. It has two representations, one is the influence of music, the other is the influence of literati creation in Yue Fu poem.
