Quality Of Curcuma Herbs

Objective: To provide a basis for further research according to the chemical research in Rhizome Cuicumae,which are collected from commercially available products or different species.Materials and Methods: Extract zedoary oil by steam distillation and determine oil yield in various kinds of goods; determine three curcuminoid constituents by high-performance liquid chromatography,evaluate the quality of these drugs by grey system theory; compare the fingerprint by HPLC.Results:1. Oil yield range in different resources is 0.45 ~ 1.3% (W/W).2. The HPLC method to determine the three curcuminoid constituents had good linearity, precision, stability, reproducibility and recoveries ,which were up to standard,there are some content differences among all these drugs.3. Establish a high-performance liquid chromatography fingerprint method and make similarity evaluation between different resorces of Rhizome Cuicumae.Conclusion: Based on the basic research,we make the best extraction process for zedoary oil, establish a high-performance liquid chromatography method for determination of three curcuminoid constituents, and establish a fingerprint to compare their similarity, these methods are fast, accurate,repeatability, which can be used for further research and development of Rhizome Cuicumae.
