Interstitial lung disease is one of four pulmonary disease spectrum in the Respiratory Medicine. The pulmonary interstitial fibrosis (Abbreviation as PIF) is the final extension of many kinds of diffuse pulmonary interstitial diseases. The usual clinical performance is progressive dyspnea, the irritable cough, restrictive ventilatory disorder with diffusion function degrade, hypoxemia and general malaise, fever or athrepsy. The condition assumes the chronic process and continually progresses. Ultimately it will develop to respiratory failure, and can cause enormous harm to the human health. Its pathogens are still not very explicit. The consequent of medicine treatment is unsatisfactory and the prognosis is not well. This article will introduce the experiences that Professor Qu Ni-ni utilizes the tradition Chinese medicine theory to treat the interstitial pulmonary fibrosis from four parts:The TCM names of the pulmonary interstitial fibrosis(most people classified as"Lung Bi"or"Lung Wilt");The TCM theory pathogenesis of interstitial pulmonary fibrosis(Lack of righteousness, Blockage of pulmonary collateral) ; The establishment of the therapeutic rules(strengthening healthy Qi and eliminate pathogens , focal point is strengthening healthy Qi);The clinical practice experiences of treat by TCM (divided into three phases : acute exacerbation phase, chronic procrastinating phase and severe changeable phase). We should use syndrome differentiation and treatment while diagnosis when we treat PIF. We should also use some herbs which have functions of reverse the process of IPF according to current pharmacological. In addition, clinical treatment should also be supplemented by other ways, such as daily conditioning to avoid pathogenic factors, psychological counseling to improve the patient's confidence, guiding patients with respiratory training, and oxygen therapy, as far as possible to improve the patient's oxygen status, to relieve symptoms and prolong life.
