Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF) is a common outcome of a variety of Diffuse Interstitial Lung Disease(DILD). According to the cause, it can be divided into Secondary Pulmonary Fibrosis (SPF) and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) PF which usually has a hidding onset mostly shows progressive dyspnea, cough and hypoxemia. Its lung function is characterized with limitory ventilation interference and dif fus ion res true t ion. Imaging man if es tat ions of PF are mainly bilateral pulmonary ground-glass-like shadow, grid-like shadow or honeycomb change. Most of the patients died of respiratory failure in the end. The main therapy for PF is pharmacotherapy and the main drugs are glucocorticoid and immunosuppressants which often have indefinite efficacy and side effects. Tradi t ional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has gained more and more focus in recent years not only because of the upsending incidence and poor prognosis of PF, but also for the limitations of western medicine. In the first part of this thesis, I summarize the recent researches of PF in TCM which mainly including TCM names, clinical experiences, clinical observations and experimental studies of four aspects. The second part summarizes Professor Daowen Yang’s clinical experiences in treating PF. It is discussed from several aspects, such as the understanding of PF in the integrated chinese and western medicine, diagnosis and treatment program in western medicine, treatment experiences of TCM, the day-to-day nursing, clinical curative effect appraisement, typical cases, and so on. Professor Yang argues that the basic pathogenesis of PF is deficiency of lung and kidney and stagnation of bloodstasis. In treatment, it is advisable to invigorate the lung and kidney, remove obstruction and activate blood c irculation. He usually makes the best use and reuse of astragalus root, selects the drugs which can invigorate the lung and kidney, attaches great importance to the adjustment of Qi and places emphasis on activate circulation to remove blood stasis.
