Background:Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of sebaceous follicles, and multiple in sebaceous gland of face, which is often seen in young people. The major clinical manifestations are acne, pimples, pustules, nodules, cysts and scarring. The etiology is very closely related to the endocrine disorders especially as high level of androgens,Seborrhea,Immune response and stimulation of Propionibacterium acnes but Specific pathogenesis is not yet clear.Method:this paper includes two parts, literature review and clinical observation.The literature review has three chapters. The first chapter is related to the name of the acne disease in ancient history, the knowledge of ancient physicians about the pathogenesis of acne and the syndrome differentiation. The second chapter is the explanation of Chinese medicine in modern practice about acne, including the etiology and pathogenesis of it, classification type (syndrome differentiation); different treatment method by different practitioners, Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture concept consists of methods of selecting acupoints, needling technique and different Moxibustion methods for treating acne. The third chapter mainly focuses on the Western concept of acne, treatment and standard classification and researches.Clinical observation:first we compare the result of treatment in two group of patients consists of acupuncture group (15 patients who received acupuncture) and Chinese herbal medicine group (15 patients who received herbal medicine). We used used SPSS statistical software in this paper to analyze the age, duration of treatment and efficacy of treatment in two groups of patients suffering the facial acne. After a course of treatment, Clinical evaluation results show that acupuncture is always more efficient than Chinese herbal medicine in treatment of acne reduce involved area significantly.Since there are different syndrome differentiations for acne and also different Doctors have different methods to treat we also summarized the clinical experience of Zhang Xueli in Syndrome differentiations and treatment of acne during many years of her practice. she held the opinion that, acne can be divided into the main following types:By wind-heat type of lung. Gastrointestinal heat-type,Phlegm and spleen deficiency with Damp Retention type. She believed in treatment, we should be mainly emphasized on spleen and stomach.Conclusion:Through clinical observation of the advantages of acupuncture treatment of acne, this paper analyses the practical acupuncture method can be used for different types of acne but effectiveness of the acupuncture is various. Meanwhile diet in treatment of acne has important role.
