Health care system is an important part of social security system. As its importance has become increasingly large, it has drawn many experts'close attention. For policy makers, it is far more necessary to establish and improve a health care system which is suitable for domestic social conditions.With economic and political development, contemporary health care systems are being improved and changed and finally several typical models of health care system came into birth. The National Health Services (known as NHS) Model with its representatives of United Kingdom, Sweden, etc., offers complete health services from the national level and public point of view and has been a distinct model among those many ones.The core of the essay is to study the health care system in Sweden, which is one of those NHS countries. The theories related to health care systems are presented from the angel of three core systems within health care system, finance, delivery and supply of health care services. The author analyses the basis for such a system with economic, social and political view, and demonstrate that Corporatism, high economic level or steady economic conditions, fairness in social theories compose themselves as basis for NHS. The health care system in Sweden developed from the very beginning and became the highlight in history and its advancement is also presented in this essay.The essay introduces the aim of Swedish health care system, the health condition in Sweden and central, provincial, municipal levels for management. For health services, primary health care, second and third health care are covered. The author analyses finance system in which taxation and employers'insurance are the main two channels, and also draws a picture of the whole expenditure structure in Sweden and compare expenditures with other countries. The expenditure in Sweden goes up rapidly but it isn't among those countries that have very high expenditure, or in other words, it is higher just little beyond average. The essay shows problems in Swedish health care system, such as high expenditure, unfairness in medical distribution, low efficiency and lack of effective management from government. The reasons behind them are nature of health care system, such as unfairness, and three—level management system in Sweden, and nature of low efficiency in NHS countries. Sweden has promoted several reforms for health care system which in this essay has been tested for its real effectiveness. The author holds the view that Swedish reform has had some effective results from accessibility, equality and expenditures.With Swedish experience and problems emerging in the process of health care reforms in China, the author concludes that China should establish the NHS idea and a system in which government counts the most important, expand medical expenditure with proper volume and make the gap between cities and countryside disappear.
