Yunvjian originated from "Jing Yue Quan Shu" in the "new side eight array" for kidney yin deficiency,it consists of five herbs such as Shengshigao,Shudi,Maidong,Zhimu, and Niuxi. It used to treat shaoyin deficiency, superabundant yangming, and insufficiency of water leading to excess of fire. later on, doctores attached much importance to it and have done a lot of theory and clinical study. At present, Yunvjian has widely been applied clinically, not limited to Zhangjingyue has described. In this paper, retrieved the database of CNKI and searched 43 medical literatures between 1999 and 2010.By studying these documents, made clear the scope of application, the characteristic of the indications, medication use and therapeutic effect in the modern clinically preliminarily. This study will provide important basis in effectively apply yunvjian.43 pieces of literatures showed that Yunvjian could treat many diseases, involved about 23 disease in ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology.internal medicine, dermatological department and so on.Treatment of ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology diseases included canker sore, periodontitis, tonsillitis and so on, but most of the cases were canker sores. There were 580 cases of canker sore with the manifestations of yin deficiency of kidney and intense heat in the stomach. The total effective ratio was 92.41%.The Shigao was the largest used, the average amount was 32.8g .Dihuang was the second largest used, the average amount was 11: 18g.The average amount of Zhimu was 10.3g. From the frequency of the use, Shigao, Maidong,Zhimu three herbs were all with the frequency of 100%.Judging from the use of Shudi, doctors sometimes use Shengshudi and sometimes use shudi, or half of each. The doctors have disagreement with the use of Shudi when prescribe Yunvjian for canker sores.Doctors often plus Danpi, Huanglian to enhance the function of cooling blood and relieving poison, and add Shengma to the upstream to improve the curative effect.Applying Yunvjian in treating internal diseases includes bronchitis, pneumonia, diabetes, oesophagus, pylorospasm, addephagia, gastritis, diabetes insipidus and so on. There are 248 cases in treating diabetes mellitus, most of them are typeⅡdiabetes mellitus. Their syndromes are mainly consumption of yin fluid and predominance of dryness heat syndrome. The effective rate is 89.55%. The frequency of using the drug is up to 100%.The amount of Shengshigao and Shudihuang is more than other drugs, the average amount of Shigao is 33.3g,the average amount of Shudi is 26.7g. Compared with the treatment of canker sores, the amount of Shigao decreases, and the amount of Shudi increases. So Shudi is more important in treating diabetes mellitus.Cure skin diseases include acne, contact dermatitis, acute urticaria, drug rash, acute eczema, allergic purpura, neurodermatitis, prurigo nodularis, cutaneous pruritus, dry seborrheic dermatitis, rheumatic annular erythema. Most of the syndromes are stagnated heat in the lung and stomache or blood-heat syndrome. There are 120 cases in treating acne. The curative effect is best in treating papula. The effect rate is 98.61%. The second curative effect is for empyesis ,the effect rate is 91.3%. The curative effect is relatively poor in treating hydatoncus and mixed type and curative effect is only 50%. Treatment effects of other skin problems are also significant, the effect rate is 91.67%. But the treatment effect of dry seborrheic dermatitis is poor and the effect rate is only 66.67%.Research also indicates that the original Yunvjian is rarely used in modern clinically, the vast majority is adding and subtracting some herbs. It is the need of disease development and different seriousness and accompanied symptoms, and important link of differentation of traditional Chinese medicine. So it could pay more attention to it.
