Objective:To study the incidence, location, age, mechanism, diagnosis, treat ment, living conditions of multiple primary cancer in patients with nasopharyng-eal carcinoma. Methods:The clinical data of 44 multiple primary cancer patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma were retrospectively analyzed, which was from our h-ospital from January,1985 to December,2005. The first group of the first cancer was 32 cases, which the first cancer were all nasopharyngeal carcinoma received radical radiotherapy, and the second cancer was other cancers, whose interval was greater than 6 months. The second group was a total of 12 cases.in which the first cancer was other cancer, the second was nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Results:Nasopharyngeal cancer accounts for multiple primary treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma over the same period the total number of 5722 cases of 0.77%,of which 4 patients had a family history of cancer, accounting for 9.10%.44 cases of patients aged 30 to 70 years old.The first group of the other primary cancers in head and neck occurred in 25 cases, accounting for 78.13%,other parts of the 7 cases, accounting for 21.87%,The second group were 33.33% and 66.67%. The first group of Synchronous multiple primary cance w-as 0 cases,18 cases radiation-induced malignant tumors, with the proband cancer median incubation period of 11 years, including 5 cases of gingival squamous cell carcinoma,3 cases of external auditory canal squamous cell carcinoma,pal-ate 2 cases of cancer,2 cases of tongue squamous cell carcinoma,2 cases of skin cancer, nasopharyngeal sarcoma in 3 cases,1 case of maxillary osteosarcoma.W-hile the second group of 6 cases of Synchronous multiple primary cancer,accou-nting for 50% of the radiation-induced cancer 0,by the X 2 test,p=0.OOO,the diff-erence was statistically significant. The first group of 20 males and 12 females, male:female was 1.67:1,and the second group of males was 8 and 4,male: female was 2:1,p=0.798,the difference was not statistically significant. Two sur-vival curves by the Log-rank test,p=0.003(X 2=9.050,df=1),the difference was statistically significant.44 cases of multiple primary cancers in nasopharyngeal carcinoma,radiation-induced cancer in 14 cases,4 cases of radiation-induced sa-rcoma,radiation-induced cancers and radiation-induced sarcoma of the three-year survival rates were 57.14% and 0.00%,p=0.045,difference statistical sig-nificance.5-year survival rates were 28.57% and 0.00%,p=0.053,the difference was not statistically significant;the survival curves by the Log-rank test,p=0.047 (X 2=3.958,df=1),the difference was statistically significant. The survival curves by the Log-rank test,p=0.047(X 2=3.958,df=1),the difference was statistically si-gnificant.The first group of 30 patients, the second group of 10 patients were treated, for a total treatment of 40 cases,of which 19 cases of radiation th-erapy,surgery in 3 cases, chemo-therapy in 4 cases,3 cases of surgery+radio-therapy, chemotherapy+radiotherapy in 8 cases,surgery+radiotherapy+chem- otherapy 3 cases,of which 18 cases of radiation-induced cancer, radiotherapy al-one 15 cases 1 case of surgery alone, surgery+radiotherapy in 2 cases.4 patients in the untreated group, treatment, and untreated cases of 3-year survival rates were 32.50%(13 cases) and 0.00%(0 case),by Fisher exact probability test p=0.056,no significant difference.5-year survival rates were 17.50% and 0.00%,Fisher exact test after test p=1.00,the difference was not statistically sig-nificant; the survival curves by the Log-rank test,p=0.003 (X 2=16.714,df=1),the difference was statistically significant.Latency of radiation-induced cancer con-centrated in 8 to 14 years, according to an interval of 2 to 8 years,8 to 14 years, 14 to 20 years group, difference by Log-rank test comparing the survival curves showed no significant difference.Plot shows that survival has been extended with the trend of latency. Conclusions:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma after treatment of multiple primary cancers, was no difference between male and female, mainly in the head and neck area.Pathogenesis of radiation-induced cancer primarily, but also with genetic and other factors.Among multiple primary cancers in nasopharyngeal carcinoma, the first accounted for much of nasopharyngeal cancer is,and radiation-induced cancer was significantly higher than the survival of radiation-induced sarcoma, which survival has been extended with the trend of latency. Objective:To study the characteristics, early diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of multiple primary cancers (MPC).Methods:The clinical data of 132 cases of MPCs in our hospital from Jan,1985 to Dec,2005 were retrospectively analyzed.Results:132 MPC cases were found with malignant tumors and the incidence of MPC was 0.310%,which was 0.301% of double cancer, triple can-cer was 0.009%,132 cases of cancer lesions MPC duplication is 268.Which a-lso accounted for 18.18% of Simultaneous MPC (24/132),metachronous MPC accounting for 81.82%(108/132).Interval of two cancer within 3 years up to 40.91%(54/132), in 3 to 5 years up to 27.28%(36/132).Both the first cancer and the second cancers are the most common cancer in digestive system, foll-owed by head and neck cancer and respiratory cancer, accounting for 44.78%, 32.84% and 13.06%.The most common liver cancer and nasopharyngeal carcinoma were 58 patients and 44 patients. After the second cancer diagnosis, treatment by surgery and radiotherapy and chemotherapy is the main.3-year s-urvival rate was 49.24%,23.47% 5 year survival rate, the longest one case of survival up to 9 years. Conclusions:Diagnosis of multiple primary cancer is increasing with the diagnosis and treatment increasing. The majority of second primary cancers occurs in the first 1 to 5 years after the first cancer diagnosis,in particular 3 year period. Sites are mainly in the digestive system, head and neck and respiratory system. To improve the level of awareness will reduce the multiple primary cancer misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis.Multiple primary cancers of the early discovery, early diagnosis, with effective treatment can help to improve the survival of MPC patients.
