Purpose:To explore the distribution of TCM syndrome in diabetic nephropathy, and observe the correlation of the qi-yin deficiency and Blood Stasis syndrome with DN, and combined with the results of animal experiments to explore the preventive and therapeutic effect of Yiqi Yangyin, huoxuehuayu on DN.Material and method: All of the 150 patients who have been diagnosed diabetic nephropathy come from Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital From January 2007 to October 2008. With retrospective study method, to study the relationships between Symptomatology of TCM and the Course, Permit the merger of DN etc. The mode male Wistar rats with streptozotocin-induced were randomly divided into model group, Tangshenan group, irbesartan group, and set the normal control group. after 8 weeks the levels of urinary TGF-β1 and microalbumin were detected. Useing SPSS13.0 and DPS2000 statistical software to analyse the results.Results:1. The rate of the emergence of qi-yin deficiency syndrome in stageⅢof DN is more than another two principal syndrome types about 49 percent(p<0. 05). The incidence of Blood Stasis in all the patients is about 92%.2. Qi-yin deficiency and Blood Stasis syndrome is more than another two principal syndrome types and Blood Stasis in theⅢstage of DN , about 55. 31%. There are significant differences between the three syndromes (p<0. 01). In theⅣ,Ⅴstage of DN, it's about 17. 02%,27.65%.3. The levels of urinary TGF-β1 and microalbumin in the model groups are significantly increased compared with normal control group (p<0. 01), and theirs in the Tangshenan group and Irbesartan group are significantly decreased compared with the model group (p<0. 01). The levels of urinary TGF-β1 correlated positively to that of urinary microalbumin in every groups (p<0. 01).Conclusion: 1. Qi-yin deficiency and Blood Stasis syndrome is closely related to the stageⅢof DN2. Yiqi Yangyin, huoxuehuayu can protect effectively the renal of experimental DM rats .3. Decreasing TGF-β1 may be one of the mechanisms for Tangshenan's prevention to DN.
