Purpose: To summarize onset of illness , the characteristics of clinical manifestation and the therapeutic experiences in Eczema of local region by retrospective analyzing the cases which were the in-patients in the department of dermatology of the first affiliated hospital in Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine over the past five years. Which will be better for the understanding , the prophylaxis and treatment of Eczema.Material and method: Clinical data of the 409 Eczema patients whom were the in-patients in the department of dermatology of the first affiliated hospital in Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine during 2004 to 2008 were retrospectively investigated. It is illustrated in detail about age,sex,occupation,the onset season,courses of disease,previous history, predisposing factor, the place of onset, characteristic of cutaneous eruption, TCM Syndrome Types, Laboratory examination, the number of days hospitalized, therapeutic methods and efficacy. All available data are dealt with by statistical analysis.Results:1. Epidemiologic data: In five years , the total of Eczema patients were 409 . From 2004 to 2008, the cases of eczema patients were sequentially as follow: 39, 60, 68, 113, 129. Of these ,219 were male , 190 were female .The ratio of male to female was 1. 15: 1. The mean age at diagnosis was 54. 7±16. 91 years (range, 8 through 86 years). The largest percentage of total number was from 45 to 70. the shortest Course was two days and the longest was more than 20 years. The average hospital days were 18.67±5.92 days.2. Occupation : The majority of occupation with Eczema patients were retirees and intellectuals.3. The onset season : The onset seasons for the first time were mostly in spring and summer and the repeated were not significant differences . 4. Predisposing factor : 314 cases had not find predisposing factors . The predisposing factor which had been found were more common in food .5. Allergic history: Suffering from other allergic diseases were 132 people, accounting for 32.27 percents, mostly in drug allergy.6. Disease history : History of the most common diseases were coronary heart disease, hypertension, fatty liver, diabetes and inflammatory diseases.7. Allergen detection : 138 cases of patients had been tested allergens. Of these, 131 were positive for IgE and 76 cases had allergy-related objects.8. Laboratory examination : The results of laboratory examination clearly Changed as follows: 179 cases of eosinophils increased ,89 cases of platelet increased, 80 cases of A / G ratio decreased, 37 cases interleukin increased, 54 cases of neutral cells increased , 72 cases of lymphocyte decline , 48 cases of abnormal urine, abnormal renal function in 29 cases and 36 cases of abnormal liver function.9. The characteristics of clinical manifestation : Most patients were generalized , rash showed pleomorphic and accompanied by obviously itching.10. TCM Syndrome Types : The cases of immersion of dampness-heat in skin were 305, dampness retention due to deficiency of spleen were 39 cases and blood vacuity win-dryness were 65 cases.11. therapeutic efficacy: Through treatment determination on syndrome and symptoms differentiation through internal and topical treatment, 97 patients were cured, 184 obtained obvious effect , 95 patients had somewhat effect , 5 patients had on change and the overall effective rate was 99. 19%.Conclusion:1. In recent years, the incidence of Eczema appears to be rising.2. Eczema is particularly prevalent in middle-aged and elderly and it is not significant different in incidence between men and women.3. Even though the pathogen of eczema is not so clear, but is closely related to personal physical, emotional, infection and allergic. 4. Therapeutic effects are significant with treatment determination on syndrome and symptoms differentiation through internal and topical treatment.
