Emmprin And Fascin Expression In Renal Cell Carcinoma And Its Clinical Significance

Objective:To investigate the expression of Fascin and extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer(EMMPRIN) in renal cell carcinoma(RCC),explore the correlation of their expression and pathological stages,histological grades and metastasis of RCC and offer theory basis for prognosis and gene therapy of RCC.Methods:Tissues from 50 cases of RCC,10 cases of normal kidney were studied by reversal transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) for the expression of EMMPRIN and Fascin.Statistics analyzes the correlation of EMMPRIN,Fascin expression with pathological stages,histological grades and lymph node metastasis of RCC and the correlation between expression of EMMPRIN and Fascin.Results:1.Expression of EMMPRIN and Fascin were noted in both RCC tissues and normal kidney tissues.The positive rates of EMMPRIN and Fascin were much higher in RCC than in normal kidney(P=0.003,P=0.015).2.The expression of EMMPRIN was correlated with TNM stage,histological grades,diameter of tumor and lymph node metastasis(P＜0.05) in RCC,but not with age(P=0.336),tumor site(P=0.623) and gender(P=0.623).3.The expression of Fascin was correlated with TNM stage,histological grades and lymph node metastasis(P＜0.05) in RCC,but not with age(P=0.311),tumor site(P=0.251),gender(P=0.468)and diameter of tumor(P=0.211).4.There was a positive correlation between expression of EMMPRIN and that of Fascin in RCC(r=0.411,P＜0.01).Conclusion:The expression of EMMPRIN and Fascin is significantly increased in RCC tissue.Their high expression correlates significantly with pathological stages, histological grades,and lymph node metastasis of RCC.EMMPRIN and Fascin may be biomarkers for prognosis,early diagnosis and treatment of RCC.
