This thesis consists of two parts:the literature review and the experiment research.There are two sections of the literature review.The first one is about the research progress of western medicine in diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN) in recent years.It include research of the cause,diagnosis and treatment method.The cause of DPN has not clearly expounded yet today.There are many ways used in clinical care,but the curative effect is not so good.The second section is about the research progress of TCM in DPN.It includes the analysis of pathogens and pathogenesis,treatment applying with the pattern identification, special treatment of herbs.Objective To observe the effect of Jiang Tang Tong Luo Pian(JTTLP) on NCV for DPN rats.Method Among 24 SD rats,pick up 10 rats randomly as normal control group,the rest were included by STZ celiac injection(50mg/kg).72 hours after the injection,the rats with fasting blood glucose level above 16.7mmol/L were diabetes model group for observation. After feeding for 8 weeks,the morphology of sciatic nerves was investigated by HE staining under the microscope.It showed that the diabetic model rats were suffering from neuropathy. Then,pick up 20 rats randomly as nomal control group among 120 male SD rats,the rest for diabetic model group.After injected by STZ,the rats which successfully became diabetic model were divided into diabetic model group.Methycobal was given by 0.25mg/kg·d,JTTLP was given by3.2,6.3,12.6g/kg·d herb according to low,middle and high dose.After curing for 8 weeks,we measured some items.Results Sciatic nerve conduction velocity:Compared with normal group,the MNCV of model group decreased significantly in week 8.Compared with diabetic model group, methycobal group and significant increase difference in week2,4,6 and 8(P<0.05).Compared with diabetic modael group,the low,middle and high dose JTTLP group and significant in week 8(P<0.05).Only the high dose JTTLP group dad significant difference in week 12 compared with methycobal group(P<0.05).Conclusion The rats experiment showed that JTTLP can significantly improve the nerve conductive velocity in rats with DPN.
