The dissertation includes five main parts:development of constitution theory of traditional Chinese medicine,statement of constitution and theory discussion in ,relationship between diseases of six meridians and constitution, tracing to the source of constitution theory in ,and relative issues in study of constitution theory in .In the articles review,the distinctive constitution theories developed by masters in history are introduced,in which is the source and is the original application of the constitution theory.The masters' development of constitution theory is focused on.The study of constitution theory in modern traditional Chinese medicine is divided into three parts:theory,clinic,and experiment. Research results of constitution theory in modern multi-disciplinary field are elaborated.Several studies on constitution theory in recent years are supplemented at last.The current condition shows a shortage of systematic and comprehensive research on constitution theory of .The constitution content clearly expressed in articles of is generalized in chronic disease and constitution,pathogen leftover constitution,and others.Based on these categories,some preliminary understandings of constitution theory in could be established.First,constitution is formed under impacts of congenital and acquired factors,including chronic disease,gender difference,and eating habits.Second,physical distinction between strong and weak generally refers to sufficiency or not of healthy energy,which is described as size of "defense force" and "self-harmony force".Third,there are different physical properties,such as yin and yang,cold and heat,and deficiency and syndrome,which could be summarized as two categories - yin and yang.Fourth,there is yin and yang of constitution.Pulse-taking is the base of constitution identification.Last,pathogen leftover is the pathology products piles in the body,which is a special factor of constitution.The third part is the key part of this dissertation.First of all,through the discussion of relationship between constitution and start,progress,nature repair,and cure of the diseases of six meridians,the importance of constitution factor in the identification and cure of the diseases of six meridians is revealed.When the diseases of six meridians come on,the constitution is the dominant factor.The difference of the meridians of diseases and the different form of symptom also have close relationship with constitution.That is to say,the diversity and complexity of the diseases are determined by the cold,heat,deficiency and syndrome of constitution. The constitution factor is very important in the progress of the diseases.The occurrence,trend and different deterioration in the progress are greatly dependent on the endopathic cause of constitution.The content of natural cure shows the disease could be cured by natural energy of the body itself.The base of the natural cure is the reestablishment to yin-yang equilibrium.The styles of natural cure include exorcising, eutopic reduction,upkeep by food,and cure dependent on natural yang.In the cure of diseases,constitution is the key factor.The constitution should be take into consideration on the prescription,medicine using,dosing and taboo.The variation from person to person is the consideration of constitution.At the end of this part,the impact of the special factor of constitution,pathogen leftover,to the start,progress, and cure is described.The theory of the constitution in is built upon the former masters' idea.Thus,the source of the theory is retrospected in the fourth part.The inheritance and development of constitution theory from to are discussed in the shaping factor,category,and especial the relationship between constitution and disease.The discussion shows is the base of the constitution theory,while is the classic of the theory application and more close to clinic.At last,the relative issues in the completion of this dissertation are deeply discussed,including concept identifications(such as difference and relationship between constitution and healthy energy and gastric qi),special property of constitution(such as physiology,pathology and variability),and the combination of theory and clinic(such as constitution identification with four physical examination and cure of subhealth by constitution improvement).
