Bushenzhuanggu Recipe On Glucocorticoid Induced Osteoporosis, Experimental Research

Objective : To investingate the prophylaxis effect of BSZGFJ on glucocorticoid-induced osteoposis in rats by meacuring biochemical markers and histomorphologic measurement.Methods : 45 Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal group ,control group,estrogen group and BSZGFJ group.normal group12 and the other groups 11, The rats in normal group ,estrogen group and BSZGFJ group were given Dexamethasone (2.5mg/kg) twice one week , up to 4 weeks . and the rats in BSZGFJ and estrogen groups were administrated BSZGFJ and GEQD respectively frombaseline and the rats in normal group and control group were given NS frombaseline The rats were killed after 8 weeks to measure biochemical markets , thenobserve microscopic structure of bone.Results : the levels of the serum calium and phosphate did not show significantly difference among all groups; serum level of ALP was higher in the control than in the normal group(p<0.05) , the parameters of bone mass and bone formation decreased significantly in the control than in the normal group (p<0.05), and such parameters in the BSZGFJ and estrogen groups increased statistically than those in the control ,but the TBV, AOS ,TOS parameter not reached the value of the normal group , the control showed increase of value of parameter of bone resorption compared with that in other two groups, the structure of bone showed improven signs in the BSZGFJ and estrogen groups compared with those in controlConclusion : it seems that BSZGFJ is potentially effective in preventing glucocorticoid-inducedosteoporosis,and BSZGFJ prevent glucocorticoid-induced osteoporsis through the following mechanisms : 1. to increase the bone formation and inhibit bone resorption ; 2 . to decrease the inhibiton of glucocorticoid on the bone formation .
