Adenomyosis is a common and frequently encountered gynecopathy whose major clinical manifestations includes gradually intensified secondary dysmenorrheal, increases in menstruation volume and menostaxis. Adenomyosis does great harm to its sufferers' life. Western medicine mainly resorts to drugs and operations for treatment. However, such treatment, with considerable side-effects, would impose negative influence upon the patients' fertility and is thus not well-received. The traditional Chinese medicine, on the other hand, taking treatment based on syndrome differentiation as its guiding principle, can alleviate the symptoms with fewer side-effects and remarkable therapeutic effects. The research carries a questionnaire with 206 adenomyosis patients. Objective: To probe into the distribution regularities of the disease from the perspective of syndrome in the TCM and establish the foundation for relatively objective and applicable syndrome diagnosis standards. Methods:The research sets up a database containing the general information, lifestyles and symptoms of the patients, and studies the regularities of distribution through cluster analysis, principal component analysis and correlated analysis. Results:According to statistic analysis, the research divides the 206 patients participating in the research into three common clinical types: Among them, 79 patients were the kidney yang insufficiency as the main performance, which accounts for 38.35%; 78 patients were the qi deficiency of both the spleen and kidney as the main performance, which accounts for 37.86%; 49 patients were the stagnation of liver qi as the main performance, which accounts for 23.79%.The result shows that 76.12% of the causes of the disease are related to the kidney, which indicates that the "root" of the disease is kidney deficiency, with blood stasis, qi stagnation and phlegm as its the"branch", deficiency complicated with excess. The results also suggest that this disease is closely related to liver, spleen and kidney. Of the 206 patients, the ages focus on 30~50; Most of them are office workers with depression and short temper. A large proportion of the patients are intolerant to cold in the winter and are inclined to take pungent and spicy food. Conclusion: The most common types of adenomyosis are kidney yang insufficiency,qi deficiency of both the spleen and kidney, stagnation of liver qi , which are closely related to liver, spleen and kidney. The "root" of the disease is kidney deficiency, with blood stasis, qi stagnation and phlegm as its the"branch", deficiency complicated with excess. Therefore, the dysfunction of spleen, kidney and liver is the central link in the evolution of pathology. Phlegm and blood stasis through from beginning to end in this disease.
