Ft-eight Method On Time Acupoints Treatment Of Chloasma Clinical Studies

This thesis includes both literature review and clinical research report.Ⅰ.Literature ReviewFirst of all,a review was conducted on the existing literature of the theory and clinical application of the Feiteng Bafa.The Feiteng Bafa is an important part of time needling method in acupuncture.It is the opening of points based on time,practiced on the foundation of the Eight Convergent Points.Fei Teng implies swift and agile.Based on the method of opening points,it can be categorized into Xu Feng's Feiteng Bafa and Wang Guorui's Feiteng Bafa,where in Xu Feng's Feiteng Bafa is based on eight points on the eight extra meridians and ba gua.It is a treatment method by opening points according to the Ten Heavenly Stems(hourly time).The characteristic of this method is no matter what the Ten Heavenly Stems and Twelve Earthly Branches are for a certain day,the hourly stem is used.When applied in clinic,the practitioner only needs to know the corresponding points for each heavenly stem hour,no need for number calculations.This method is easy to use in clinic;therefore,many people choose to use Xu's Feiteng Bafa.This thesis also discusses Xu's Feiteng Bafa in depth and introduces the literature found on different treatment methods of the Feiteng Bafa.Today,this method is used in clinic yielding good effects.In addition,the pathogenesis,clinical categorization and treatment methods of chloasma were discussed in both TCM and Western medicine perspectives.Chloasma was mentioned in TCM texts as early as before the West Han era.Different TCM texts during different historic times also mentioned about chloasma.As a result,the TCM understanding of the pathogenesis of chloasma is quite unanimous.It is said to be related to liver,spleen,and kidney in the organ aspect and related to qi stagnation and blood stasis in the qi and blood aspect.Treatment method is chosen according to pattern differentiation.Western medicine still does not have a clear explanation of the pathogenesis of chloasma but explains that endocrine abnormalities are the main reason of its appearance.It may also be related to genetic disposition,endocrinology, pregnancy,and sun exposure.Recent researches discovered that chloasma is also related to microecosystem imbalances and metabolic disorders.In addition,the use of poor quality cosmetics is also one of the contributing factors.Modern medicine's research on chloasma is still continuing.Lastly,categorization and statistical analysis were performed on literature on different acupuncture,herbal,and integrative medicine treatments in the past 15 years.It is discovered that TCM treatments on chloasma has become the major modality,different methods have some extent of effect.Channel treatment is a feature in TCM.It played an important role in the treatment on chloasma. Ⅱ.Clinical ResearchThis research is a clinical observation of the use of Feiteng Bafa in choosing points according to time in treating chloasma.The observation was performed on 60 patients who meet the inclusion criteria of chloasma.The subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups:the Feiteng Bafa choosing points according to time plus pattern differentiation group and the TCM pattern differentiation group.Acupuncture is administered accordingly.The main objective is to find the better method of treating chloasma.Clinical trial results show:As proven by statistical analysis, the age,course of diseases,color of chloasma,and area of chloasma before treatment show no significant difference between the 2 groups;after treatment,the Feiteng Bafa choosing points according to time plus pattern differentiation group showed a better overall treatment effect compared to the TCM pattern differentiation group(P＜0.05),which is statistically significant. With regards to the change in color and area of chloasma,the the Feiteng Bafa choosing points according to time plus pattern differentiation group also showed a better effect compared to the TCM pattern differentiation group.Therefore,it is concluded that:1.The Feiteng Bafa can fully exercise the function of the eight extra meridians and regulate the entire channel system by choosing points according to time;2.The Feiteng Bafa(choosing points according to time method) combined with pattern differentiation method is a more effective treatment method compared to the TCM pattern differentiation method.
