A famous TCM doctor from the Jin Dynasty, LiuHejian, said in his book《Hejian Liu shu》:"To treat a cough, first treat the phlegm; to treat the phlegm, the best treatment is downward qi movement first ."《JingyueQuanshu》said:"All coughing is related to the lung,and lung diseases can be divided into two kinds: external invasion syndrome and internal injury syndrome".However,《Shanghan Zabing Lun》has developed the theory of wheezing and coughing .Its ideas of pathogenesis and therapeutics were inherited from《NeiJing》.《Shanghan Zabing Lun》has developed a complete cure system of wheezing and coughing, which offers fundamental investigative directions on clinic practice. is served as clinic direction . In western medicine theory, external invasion of wheezing and coughing is related to acute bronchitis,bronchitis, repetatus respiratory infection,bronchial asthma,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,etc.This study includes a literature review,theory and experimental study : 1.literature reviewIt consists of two parts, In the first one,I summarize the literature related to the therapy of wheezing and coughing in TCM. The second paper discusses the thoughts about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in TCM from ancient times to today. This paper includes the pathogenesis, mechanism and treatment. The treatment includes the Qu Tan treatment,Huo Xue treatment,Yi Qi treatment,root and end treatment,acupuncture therapy,the treatment with combined traditional Chinese-Western medicine and the experimental study.2.Theory studyTraditional Chinese physicians of past dynasties used a great number of therapeutic methods to treat wheezing and coughing,but they are scattered throughout the writings of traditional Chinese physicians of the past,there is no systematic summary and induction. The theory research of my topic will define the concept of wheezing and coughing and systematically summarize therapeutic methods of traditional Chinese physicians to wheezing and coughing. After analyzing the summary of Zhong jng's treatments for wheezing and coughing,differentiating particular formulas and herbs among all the others, we conclude that removing phlegm is the important therapeutic intervention of wheezing and coughing.Phlegm retention is a tangible manifestation of a problem. When it comes to the treatment of wheezing and coughing, removing phlegm is the very first step. The body's health cannot recover if it is not removed.Later doctors closely followed Zhong Jing's methods and did not make breakthroughs.3.Experimental studyExperiment study acting on mice with COPD. We explore the preventive and palliative effect of Jia Wei Jie Geng Decoction Injection on airway inflammation in mice with COPD. We supply more experimental evidence for treating wheezing and coughing by traditional Chinese medicine.
