Integrative Treatment Of Cough Variant Asthma Clinical Research

This Master academic dissertation is made up of 2 parts:literature summary and clinical research.Literature summary The first review: carrying on the literature review in the view of traditional Chinese medicine from the name of cough variant asthma, pathogenic factors, pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and treatment, combined traditional Chinese with western medicine to other aspects. The second review: is about modern study on CVA.Clinical research Object To observe the clinical effect of the treatment combined traditional Chinese medicine with western medicine. Methods 63 patients with CVA were randomly divided into two groups, treatment group (32 cases) and control group (31 cases). The treatment group was given the decoction of dispelling wind and dispersing lung(oral application.one dose each day , twice every day. ) and Budesonide Powder for Inhalation(inhaled application.100ug every time, twice every day.);The control group was given Budesonide Powder for Inhalation(inhaled application.100ug every time,twice every day.),Theophyline Sustatined～release Tablets(oral application.0.1g every time, twice every day.)and Loratadine Tablet(oral application.10mg every day.)All patients were given drugs for 21 days. After 21 days, the effect rate, the total symptom scores,FEV1,diurnal variation rates of PEFR,safety index were observed.Results 3 of the patients did not accomplish the treatment because of a variety of reasons.Then the left 60 patients accomplished it. After 21 days, the total effective rate was 93.33% in the treatment group and 76.67% in the control group;the effective rate of the treatment group was higher than the control group and There was significant difference between groups after treatment(P<0.05).The symptom scores of cough frequency, cough level, itching pharynx, chest distress,expectoration,FEV1,PEF,and the diurnal variation rates of peak expiratory flow rate(PEFR)in all patients decreased than before treatment(P<0.05 or P<0.01),and there was significantly difference between two groups after treatment(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion This clinical research showed that the decoction of dispelling wind and dispersing lung combining Budesonide Powder for Inhalation play good effects to CVA patients. The decoction of dispelling wind and dispersing lung is prominent in improving cough frequency, cough level, itching pharynx, chest distress, expectoration and decreasing bronchial hyper responsiveness (BHR).And the effect in treatment group was better than in control group.
