Intensive training for a long time is rather bad for the physical fitness of athletes as well as the immunity. When the suppression of the immune system occurs and the situation can not be changed, the athletes easily get sick that badly affect their health and the training. The fact that sports hypochromica is caused by long-term and intensive training has been proved. But rare researches focus on the body's immunity with sports hypochromica. Here we will study on this question and exploit the suitable Chinese herbs to change this situation.Method: We used the animal model of sports hypochromica. Mail Wister rats were divided into six groups: rest with water infusing (RW), rest with Chinese herbs infusing (RM), exercise with water infusing (EW), exercise with Chinese herb infusing (EM).The Chinese herbs includes Gen-seng, Epimedium herbs, Rhodiola rosea and so on. We assayed the level of Hemoglobin(Hb), red blood cell(RBC), haematocrit(Hct),white blood cell(WBC), lymphocyte(LYM%) and T lymphocyte with subgroup in order to explore the mechanism of immunity with sports hypochromica and the effect of traditional chinese medicine on it.Result and conclusion:1. We successfully established a rat model of sports hypochromica based on Cao Jianmin (PhD)'s former research. After seven weeks of the more effective and economical treadmill exercise of progressive loading , the RBC,Hb and Hct of EW rats decreased significantly(P<0.05).2. The WBC of EW group was significantly higher compared with the RW group (P<0.05) and the LYM% was markedly lower than the RW's(P<0.01). And its T3+% and T4+/T8+ is also lower than the RW's, but there is no significance. The data shows the negative correlation between the Hb and WBC, Hct-WBC of the EW group. The change in the WBC parameters and the T lymphocyte with subgroup suggested that the suppression of immune system of EW rats happened and was relative with the sports hypochromica.3. The Hb, RBC and Hct of EM group were higher than the EW group, and there is significance in Hb and RBC (P<0.05). Compared with the EW group, significantly lower levels of WBC were observed in EM group (P<0.05)and its LYM% was higher. The T3+% of EM group was significantly higher compared with the EW group (P<0.01) as well as its T4% that was higher compared with the RW group (P<0.05).We also saw the T4+/T8+ of EM group increased compared with the RW group and the EW group. There are no significant difference in all results between the RW group and the RM group. We concluded that the Chinese herbs may play an active role not only in increasing the RBC parameters, but also in protecting and adjusting the immunocytes and improving the function of immune system.
