Selaginella genus plants, which from Selaginnellaceae, lycopodineae, is animportant part in the plant word. There are 700 species in Selaginella genus all overthe world, and more than 60 species widespread in our country. Among them morethan 20 species can be used to treat diseases. In recent years, with the in-depthinvestigation of the new species detection and pharmacology research, Selaginellagenus plants subjected to more and more concerns of Chinese and Foreign researchers.Modern pharmacologic research found that the biflavonoids coming from Selaginellagenus have obvious effection on anti-tumor and antivirus and they are potentialanti-cancer and antivirus medicine.Chemical research indicates that the plants in Selaginella genus accumulatebiflavonoids, and it reported that there are more than 20 biflavonoids founded fromthe plants. Almost all the plants of Selaginella that have been studied containbiflavonoids. They are not only important in the chemical classification of themedicinal plant species, but also show potential physiologic activity of anti-oxidationand clearing free radicals, etc. And those components have a close relationship withthe pharmacologic action of hypoglycemic effect, anti-tumor and antivirus.Selaginella labordei Hieron, a medicinal plant from Selaginella genus, is used asan antiviral herbal medicine in China. To explore the medical value of S.labordei, wefocused on the isolation and purification of lipo-soluble chemical compounds, andexplored active constituents and the pharmacological mechanism of it.In the previous research we found that the extract of S.labordei has obviousinhibitory activities against Xanthine Oxidase. Under the direction of activity test, theextration and isolation were accompolished with solvent and chromatography method, including alkaline-alumina, silica gel, sephadex LH-20, preparation TLC, preparationHPLC, and 11 compounds were isolated from S.labordei. And futher with the expermentation of chemistry UV,IR,1H-NMR,13C-NMR,HSQC,HMBC,HR-TOFMS,EI-MS,DEPT,COSY spectrum analysis apparatus analysed, the mostsignificant 9 flavone compounds were elucidated as 2,3-dihydro-3′,3′″-biapigenin(Ⅰ),eriodictyol(Ⅱ), 2″,3″-dihydroochnaflavone(Ⅲ), 5, 5″, 7, 7″,4′-pentahydroxy-[3-0-4′″]-biflavone (Ⅳ), loniflavone (Ⅴ), 2″, 3″-dihydro-5, 5″,7, 7″, 3′-pentahydroxy-6, 6″-dimethyl-[3′-0-4′″]-biflavone (Ⅵ), 4′-methyletherrobustaflavone(Ⅶ), robustaflavone(Ⅷ), amentoflavone(Ⅸ). All the compounds wereisolated from the species for the first time, compoundⅠtoⅥwere found fromSelaginnellaceae for the first time,ⅣandⅥare new compounds. The study lays chemical foundation for the medical curative effect research ofthe monomeric constituent of S.labordei. At the same time, chemical contrastmaterials are provided for the content determination of S.labordei in this study. Inaddition, the study establish the foundation for the quality standard improvement andthe medical curative effect constituents exploration of the flavone compounds.
