Eight compounds have been isolated from Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring. The structures were identified as 6-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) -8-Benzopyran Acetic Acid(1), Robustaflavone 4'-methyl-ether(2), Robustaflavone(3), Amentoflavone(4), tetracosanoic acid (5), nonadecanoic acid (6),β-sitosterol (7), Stigmasterol (8). Compounds1, 2, 3 and 4, along with the MTX, were investigated in vitro for their inhibition on HepG2 cell. The results indicated that cytotoxic activity of compound 1, 2 and 4 was semblable with that of MTX, while compound 3 possessed higher anticancer activity than MTX.To research the optimum extraction conditions of the total flavonoids from Selaginella involvens ( Sw. ) Spring with microwave-assisted extraction. Based on the experiments of single factor, the optimum conditions were definited through the orthogonal experiment of microwave-assisted extraction. Investigated the various factors effecting on extraction of total flavonoids, such as the concentration of alcohol, the ratio of medicinal herb-alcohol, the time of extraction and the microwave power. Results When the concentration of alcohol was 70%, the microwave power was 462 w, the ratio of medicinal herb-alcohol was 1:20 and the time of extraction was last for 10 min on the method of microwave-assisted extraction, the yield of total flavonoids was optimization. The experiment provides that the microwave-assisted method can effectively improve the yield of total flavonoids from Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring.
