| Chinese medicine in 19th century Japan culminated in the career of Mori Tachiyuki(森立之) ,who came from a long line of physicians. He followed such famous scholars as lzawa Rangen (伊泽兰轩) , and Taki Motokata (多纪元坚) to learn philology, phonology, textuall research and medicine. When he was young he was banished to Sagami (相模) for 12 years ,where he identified himself with farmers ,hunters and local folk physicians, accumulated plenty of rich experiences and made on-the-spot observations and studies of medicinal plants,animals and minerals. After returning to Tokyo , he was long engaged in the studies of Han Learning and medical literature, and teaching. He compiled such as "Notes to Shen Nong's Herbal " (《本草经考注》) "Notes to Plain Questions" (《素问考注》) "A series ofNotes to Zhi Yuan" (《枳园丛考》) .This paper makes a careful inspection on《Notes to Shen Nong's Herbal》, aiming atproviding certain references for objectively commenting on it. Based on the actuality of《Notes to Shen Nong's Herbal》, this paper classifies the exegetical rules into sound exegesis and non-sound exegesis, in addition , it discusses the specific circumstances these two major rules. This paper widely studied the ideas and methods of Chinese physicians of past dynasty , and the evidential studies scholars of the Qing Dynasty . Finally, this paper gives a simple comment on the values and inadequacies of the exegesis of this work.In a word, merits and demerits interweave in《Notes to Shen Nong's Herbal》.We should discard the dross and select the essential, so as to serve the contemporary studies of Chinese medicine better. |
