Dysmenorrhea is define as a lower abdominal pain, tenesmus around or during menstruation, accompany soreness of low back or other indisposition, seriously influences women's the quality of life and works. Dysmenorrhea is subdivided into primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea is define as without pathology in reproductive organ, while secondary dysmenorrhea is the disease of reproductive organ which cause dysmenorrhea. Endometriosis and adenomyosis are common diseases in secondary dysmenorrhea. They are both resulted in ectopic endometrium. Primary dysmenorrhea, endometriosis and adenomyosis are common now in gynecology because of their high incidence, and cause huge harm to women's health of both body and psychology. And cause general attention in internal and external researchers.Doctors from successive dynasties all defined that a lower abdominal pain or soreness of low back, even faint around or during menstruation periodically in women as dysmenorrhea. There ware no record about endometriosis and adenomyosis in antique Chinese medicine. The symptoms of intra-abdominal mass which can be touched, dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, etc are belong to"abdominal mass","dysmenorrhea","infertile"and"irregular menstruation". They thought the main pathogenesis is"pain due to stagnation of qi and blood"and"pain due to qi and blood fail to nourish". They are often divided into five types of syndrome:stagnation of qi and blood, blood stasis due to cold, union of dampness,heat and blood stasis, deficiency of qi and blood, consumption in liver and kidney.In order to study the risk factors associated with dysmenorrhea and analysis of syndromes in Chinese medicine , a case-control study was carried out in this research. Study methods and results as follows.Objective: To study the risk factors associated with dysmenorrhea and analysis of common syndrome in Chinese medicine.Methods: A total of 120 cases with dysmenorrhea and 84 patients with non- dysmenorrhea, non- endometriosis and non- adenomyosis diseaseses and normal people (control group) were interviewd. The research adopts uniform table included age, height, weight, profession, education, contraceptive methods, surgery history, overall symptoms,etc.At the same time, they were interviewd in Quality of Life in Brief and Depression Scale.All data were processed by SPSS10.0 statistical software.Results: Primary dysmenorrhea is related to harmful emotions like being fidgety and anxious, high pressure, being addicted to pepper, heredofamilial dysmenorrheal and hasn't given birth to a child. Secondary dysmenorrhea is related to menorrhagia, case history of dysmenorrhea, harmful emotions like being fidgety, get angry easily and anxious, highpressure, being addicted to pepper and infertile. Quality of life of dysmenorrhea patients are obviously lower than control group. Blood stasis is the most common in physique of blood stasis.The syndromes of blood stasis due to cold is the most common in primary dysmenorrhea,while blood stasis due to cold and stagnation of qi is the most common in secondary dysmenorrhea.
