Object:Allergic rinitis is a common and frequently-occurring disease. The incidence ofthe disease presents a rising tendency in the past few years, which has attract the attentions ofmedical groups. The constitution can influence the onset, differentiation, treatment andprognosis of the disease enormously. Seasonal allergic rinitis can transform to perennialallergic rinitis and do harm to health further. Guiding by the theories of Chinese medicine, wecarried a study on the conditions of seasonal allergic rinitis and analyzed its distributionalregularity by questionnaires to find out the common features so as to providing scientificreference of prevention and cure this disease. Methods: Investigated 230 patients of seasonal allergic rinitis by constitutionalquestionnaires with the patients having known the fact and agreed to it, we evaluated andquantificated the datas at firsthand, then put the datas into the Epidata Data Bank, calculatedthe numerical datas by Spssl3.0 programe, and analyzed the constitutional characteristicsbasing on Chinese medicine. Results: The percent of frequence of patients' constitutions with 2 years course ofdisease was presented by descending turns. That is qi deficiency, yang asthenia, yindeficiency, idiosyncracy, phlegmatic dampness, stagnation of blood, stagnation of qi,damp-heat and moderation. The percent of over 10 years course in descending order isdeficiency of qi, damp-heat, yang asthenia, stagnation of qi, idiosyncracy, phlegmaticdampness, deficiency of yin, and stagnation of blood, and moderation. Each patient with 6more years appears qi deficiency. The occurring frequence of the pollen hypersensitivity inspring is the same as it in autumn. The constitutions of deficiency of qi, deficiency of yang, and idiosyncracy are more frequently involved. There are 29 patients suffering pollenhypersensitivity in both spring and autumn. The percent is 85.29ï¼…and 55.77ï¼…. Somemanifestations appeared frequently over 20ï¼…, such as failure in cold and wind resistant, being easily to catch a cold, having a dry mouth, restless and irritability, getting fatigue easily, drowsiness, loosing hairs, dry skin, bitter taste of mouth, etc. Among of them failure in coldand wind resistant, being easily to catch a cold, getting fatigue easily and drowsiness belongto deficiency of qi. The frequency of irritability was 74, in 31.74ï¼…. The frequence ofpatients' constitutions was presented by descending turns. That is yang qi deficiency, yangasthenia, yin deficiency, idiosyncracy, phlegmatic dampness, stagnation of blood, stagnationof qi, damp-heat, moderation. Deficiency of qi, deficiency of yang, stagnation of yang, stagnation of qi, yin deficiency, stagnation of blood, damp-heat, phlegmatic dampness andmoderation was the descending frequency order of the patients' having family histories.Conclusions:(1) The higher educated people come to clinic easily;(2) Each patient with 6 more years appears qi deficiency. The deficiency of qi was moreprominent in chronic patients; (3) Over half of cases were allergic to pollen both in spring and autumn. And amongthem the constitutions of deficiency of qi and yang and idiosyncrasy presented moregenerally.(4) The manifestations of qi deficiency appeared frequence highly, such as failure inwind and cold resistant, catching a cold easily, getting fatigue easily, and often drowsing, etc.And irritability also gave rise to the onset of this disease.(5) The frequency of constitutions from high to low was qi deficiency, yang deficiency, yin deficiency, idiosyncrasy, phlegmatic dampness, stagnation of qi, blood stasis, damp heatand moderation;(6) The constitutions of qi deficiency, yang deficiency and idiosyncrasy with familialinheritance are easily to get seasonal allergic rhinitis.
